​School Closings & Program Schedule

Community Advocates for Parents and Students (Community Advocates for Parents and Students) generally follows school-day cancellations when determining program operations. If schools are closed the day before or the day of a scheduled CAPS program, CAPS programming will typically be canceled as well, unless otherwise posted at the Neighborhood Network Center.

During scheduled school breaks such as Spring Break and Winter Recess, CAPS operates on a modified calendar to allow staff planned time off; however, limited programming is often still offered. Families will be notified in advance of each break about the CAPS schedule, and calendars will be posted at the Neighborhood Network Center. CAPS does not operate during summer break, and the CAPS program year generally runs from October through early June.

During school breaks, CAPS may provide families with academic activities or games for scholars and families to enjoy together, helping to keep learning active beyond the classroom and the program.
